Odell Beckham Jr. hauls in best catch of the season
The Giants may have lost 31-28 to the Cowboys on Sunday night, but that shouldn't overshadow the incredible catch made by rookie receiver Odell Beckham Jr. during this regular season game.
It came on the first play of the second quarter, with no one really expecting it. Quarterback Eli Manning dropped back to pass and threw a jump ball to Beckham, who was guarded tightly by Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr. With both players going for the ball, Beckham extended his arm behind him while falling back and essentially caught the ball with his fingertips before reeling it into his body. He then landed in the end zone for a score.
There hasn't been a better catch from anyone this NFL season.
"I hope it's not the greatest catch of all time," Beckham said after the game, via ESPN.com. "I hope I can make more."
But it has to sting some. It's hard for a competitive player to enjoy something that remarkable when it comes in a loss. Maybe after the season is over, he'll look back and realize how incredible it was. The 3-8 Giants are out of the postseason race, barring a miracle. All Beckham can do is to continue improving while looking forward to next season.
