Ornstein caught in federal probe of tickets, fake jerseys
Mike Ornstein, a former executive for the Raiders organization, and a central figure at the heart of the Reggie Bush investigation that landed the Southern California football program in serious trouble with the NCAA, has been snagged in a federal probe.
According to Liz Mullen of Sports Business Journal, Ornstein has reached a plea agreement in a federal case involving the resale of Super Bowl tickets and fake NFL game-worn jerseys.
No word yet on what type of punishment Ornstein, who has labeled himself as a marketing agent in recent years, will face.
It will be interesting to see if there is any fallout involving the New Orleans Saints. Ornstein is close with Saints coach Sean Payton and was actively seen with the coach during the team’s playoff run last season. In fact, Ornstein was a regular figure in the Saints’ locker room. At the minimum, Ornstein’s close ties to the Saints won’t look good.
