Last year after the Denver Broncos escaped with a 26-20 victory over the Tennessee Titans, and quarterback Kyle Orton got in a parting shot by saying that the Titans and, in particular, cornerback Cortland Finnegan were "cheap."

Orton was angered, alleging that Finnegan had taken an unnecessary shot at Broncos guard Chris Kuper in that game. Finnegan, who was fined $10,000 over the incident, spent a good part of last year living down and living with his comments that he aspired to be known as the dirtiest player in the NFL.

On Wednesday in a conference call with Tennessee media, Orton didn't want to stoke the situation any further, but stood by what he said from a year ago.

“I don’t regret what I said, it was a physical football game and a few plays and some stuff got out of hand. I don’t regret saying anything, I don’t take anything back,” Orton said.

Finnegan tried to downplay the matter, but it didn't sound as if he had totally wiped the slate with Orton clean.

“It definitely didn't stick with me, but whether it's in my back pocket or not, it's to be determined,” he said and laughed. “But like I said, he's a really good quarterback, and we look forward to a good game.”
