Packers claim NT Howard Green off waivers from Jets
The Green Bay Packers continue to tweak their injury-depleted roster and today they claimed nose tackle Howard Green off waivers from the New York Jets.
Green will take the place of linebacker Brad Jones, who was placed on injured reserve. He suffered a shoulder injury in the victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night, and the starter will miss the remainder of the season.
Green is a six-year veteran with 12 career starts. He’s bounced around the league since being a sixth-round draft pick by the Houston Texans in 2002. He’s made stops with the Saints, Seahawks and Ravens. He appeared in two games this season for the Jets.
The Packers, of course, play the Jets this week and will be able to pump Green for information heading into the game. How much good that will provide, who knows?
Jones is the 10th Packer to hit the IR and the fifth starter on that growing list.
