Packers dealt major loss
As it turns out, the Philadelphia Eagles were not the only ones to suffer some serious injuries in Sunday’s game at Lincoln Financial Field.
In fact, the Green Bay Packers might have been dealt the biggest blow of all in their season-opening victory. Running back Ryan Grant will miss the remainder of the season as he has a torn ligament in his ankle, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Grant will require surgery and he also has a fracture in his right leg that will heal on its own.
You can’t downplay the significance of this loss for the Packers, who will now be forced to turn to Brandon Jackson. They’ll also have to comb the streets for a free agent addition. Willie Parker is one name that comes to mind as a possibility.
Originally, the Packers thought Grant would only be out a short period of time. Coach Mike McCarthy revealed the injury was worse than originally expected late Monday and then the bad news struck.
The Eagles lost fullback Leonard Weaver for the season un Sunday's game and quarterback Kevin Kolb and linebacker Stewart Bradley both went out with concussions.
