Packers, Favre inching closer to a reunion?

Mark Murphy’s goal for a while now has been to have the Green Bay Packers and Brett Favre smooth things over.

Some progress has been made and that was clearly apparent when Favre and the team’s current quarterback Aaron Rodgers appeared together at the NFL Honors show from New Orleans during Super Bowl week.

"I thought that was great," Murphy said from the NFL owners meeting, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "It was kind of a good first step. And our intent all along is we want to bring him back into the family and retire his number. He deserves it."

It’s impossible right now to create a timeline for when Favre will appear at Lambeau Field and have his No. 4 retired, though.

"I don't want to put a deadline on it, but it's going to happen," Murphy said. "It's got to be sitting down, the organization, whether it's myself or others, sitting down with him and working on the timing on it."

The guess here is the Packers get it done in the next year or two because this is something they should resolve before Favre becomes eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, an occasion that will be filled with green and gold memories.
