Packers' Finley fined $15,750

Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley was fined $15,750 by the NFL for unnecessary roughness for his devastating block on Baltimore Ravens Pro Bowl outside linebacker Terrell Suggs.

An NFL spokesman said Finley "unnecessarily struck a defenseless player in the head and neck area,' during a 19-17 win over the Ravens last Sunday.

"Thanks to NFL for the fine for playing football," Finley wrote on his official Twitter account.

Finley plans to appeal the fine, which came without being penalized for the block during the game.

Meanwhile, Washington Redskins linebacker Perry Riley was fined $15,750 for a late hit on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. He was penalized during the game.

And New England Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes was fined $10,500 for violating the NFL uniform policy.

He wore red shoes during a win over the New Orlean Saints.

Saints safety Malcolm Jenkins was fined $15,750 for hitting Patriots wide receiver Kenbrell Thompkins in the head.
