Packers promote Scott Tolzien to active roster

The Green Bay Packers officially promoted Scott Tolzien from the practice squad to the active roster.

The former Wisconsin quarterback will back up Seneca Wallace, who steps into the starting lineup with Aaron Rodgers sidelined with a broken collarbone.

The Packers promoted Tolzien one week after he was given a raise from $6,000 per week to $32,352

Tolzien originally signed with the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2011 after leading Wisconsin to the Rose Bowl.

He was with the San Francisco 49ers before being released in August and signed by the Packers.

Tolzien completed 18 of 34 passes for 188 yards with one interception during the preseason.
