Packers re-issue tenders to restricted free agents
The Green Bay Packers have re-issued tender offers to their three restricted free agents who remain unsigned.
The Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that the Packers extended the same qualifying offers to safety Atari Bigby, defensive end Johnny Jolly and cornerback Tramon Williams. They are among a group of about three dozen RFA’s around the league who have yet to sign tenders.
Restricted free agents have until June 15 to sign tenders. After that point, teams can reduce the tender offer to each player to 110 percent of their 2009 base salary. The clubs would also hold exclusive rights to the players, leaving them in a difficult spot at that point.
Bigby will be pushed for a starting job next to Nick Collins by third-round draft pick Morgan Burnett. Williams, like all RFA’s, is hoping for a longterm extension. Jolly had his felony drug case pushed back to Friday in Harris County, Texas. We’ll see what direction this heads in. Stay tuned.
