Packers' stock sale ends at midnight Wednesday

The great stock sale by the Green Bay Packers ends at midnight (CT) Wednesday, giving those in search of a piece of the club 36 hours or so to get down to business.

According to the Green Bay Press-Gazette, two weeks ago the team had sold 263,000 shares at a cost of $250 each, raising some $65.75 million for the expansion at Lambeau Field. The Packers will pay for nearly half the project with the stock sale revenue.

There is no financial benefit to owning Packers stock but in the latest sale the report indicates the Packers have tripled the number of shareholders the team has. It’s worth wondering if that will make it difficult for some to get a seat at the annual meeting held at Lambeau Field. That is one of the perks to owning stock in the club – you can attend the meeting.
