Packers to work out Vince Young

The Green Bay Packers are working out veteran quarterback Vince Young today, according to multiple reports.

Young was unable to earn a backup job last season with the Buffalo Bills, edged out by Tyler Thigpen.

Young is a two-time Pro Bowl selection who hasn't played in the NFL since the Bills cut him last August. Two seasons ago, he had nine interceptions in 114 pass attempts for the Philadelphia Eagles as a backup to Michael Vick.

The Packers need depth behind Aaron Rodgers, currently having B.J. Coleman and Graham Harrell competing for the job.

Young is a former University of Texas star and Tennessee Titans starter.

For his career, the 6-foot-5, 232-pounder had completed 755 of 1,304 passes for 8,964 yards, 46 touchdowns and 51 interceptions. He has rushed for 1,459 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Drafted third overall in 2006, Young was never a consistent player on and off the field at Tennessee.
