As the Green Bay Packers head into the offseason with decisions to make one of the uncertainties is the future of Pro Bowl safety Nick Collins, who was lost way back in Week 2 with a serious neck injury.

The Packers might not know until sometime in March if Collins will be able to play again. According to Rob Reischel of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Collins will meet with doctors in March. He underwent spinal fusion surgery in September and his future – on the gridiron – is hanging in the balance.

“It's cut-and-dried. If the doctor says I can go back, then I'm definitely going back," Collins said. "If he says stop, I'm stopping. That's it.

"You know what? I'm not going to linger around and make this team suffer from waiting on a decision from me. That's not the type of person I am."

Collins wore a neck brace through October and now he’s just waiting to see what turns out. He’s talked about possibly entering the world of coaching one day. He received positive news from doctors last month but can’t be cleared until March.

"I always am going to say I'm going to come back, but at the end of the day, I still have to make a decision," Collins said. "I have to make sure everything's all right with the team doctor, the doctor that did the surgery, my family, my friends.”
