Panthers activate Jonathan Stewart, cut Armond Smith

The Carolina Panthers activated running back Jonathan Stewart from the reserve-physically unable to perform list.

Stewart had offseason ankle surgery.

The Panthers have been going with DeAngelo Williams and Mike Tolbert and will now have Stewart available.

They cut running back Armond Smith to create a roster spot for Williams.
