Panthers avoid real scare with Steve Smith
The Carolina Panthers dodged a bullet this afternoon when X-rays on Steve Smith’s injured finger showed he did not suffer a fracture.
Smith was hurt near the end of practice and was removed from the field on a cart and taken for medical evaluation, according to the Charlotte Observer. His ring and middle fingers on his left hand were wrapped, and Pete Prisco of CBS Sports reported there was a dislocation that will require stitches but should only keep him out a short period of time, maybe two weeks tops.
It’s better than last year when Smith suffered a broken arm playing flag football in the offseason. That injury cost him the majority of training camp.
