Panthers expected to be without Jon Beason for long time
The Carolina Panthers are bracing to be without middle linebacker Jon Beason for an extended period of time and anytime that phrase is turned your first thought has to be the remainder of the season.
Beason suffered an ankle injury in the third quarter of Sunday’s loss at Arizona and according to the Charlotte Observer, Panthers coach Ron Rivera said “it looks dire.”
Beason has been dealing with Achilles tendon issues and he went to the turf clutching his left leg. He missed all of training camp and had a minor surgery less than three weeks ago to help the situation. No one would say if his most recent injury is related but that would be a good guess. An MRI is scheduled for today.
"We had guys out there blowing out tires to fight. It doesn't get better than that," Carolina wide receiver Steve Smith said. "You don't get guys in the locker room like that. It rarely comes. When it comes, you have a guy that does that, you surely miss him but he's admirable for his effort. I'm honored to be his teammate."
