Panthers pick Brian St. Pierre to start at quarterback
The Carolina Panthers will start Brian St. Pierre at quarterback on Sunday when they host the Baltimore Ravens, choosing him over the option of starting their second rookie quarterback this season.
Coach John Fox announced that St. Pierre, who a week ago was helping his wife raise their son in Boston as an unemployed quarterback, will start over Tony Pike.
Here is how Darin Gantt of the Charlotte Observer broke the news on his Twitter account: “Fox: St.Pierre to start. That is not a joke. More to come.”
Matt Moore is on injured reserve and rookie Jimmy Clausen is on the shelf right now with a concussion. That makes St. Pierre the lucky (or unlucky) guy to start against a Ravens’ defense that has had extra time to prepare after an embarrassing meltdown Nov. 11 at Atlanta.
