Panthers place Otah on IR, add three
As it turns out, Jeff Otah will not be able to play this season.
The Carolina Panthers placed the veteran right tackle on injured reserve today after the determination was made he will not be able to come back from arthroscopic knee surgery on his left knee during training camp.
The plan was for Otah to be going well before now, but he had a setback in rehab and the decision was made to shut him down for the season. He’s just one of three veterans who have been shipped to IR, joining quarterback Matt Moore and linebacker Dan Connor.
Filling the spots are running backs Josh Vaughan and Andre Brown and linebacker Abdul Hodge. Brown was claimed off waivers from the Indianapolis Colts. The Panthers have been dealing with a rash of injuries. They needed two running backs because DeAngelo Williams (foot), Jonathan Stewart (head) and Tyrell Sutton (ankle) are all injured.
