Panthers putting some mighty big items up for auction

The Carolina Panthers refined their logo this year and that has made some of the items at Bank of America Stadium obsolete.

Some of the really, really large items at Bank of America Stadium.

So, the club is auctioning off some pieces of team history starting this week, according to the Charlotte Observer. Up for bidding? For starters there are a trio of 19x34 vinyl Panther heads that have been part of the city’s skyline mounted on top of the scoreboards at the stadium. Yes, we’re talking about 19 feet by 34 feet.

Also available is a 5x6 section of wall mural from the team’s weight room that was signed by all of the players on the 2011 team. More items from the stadium will also be available. The auction will benefit the team’s charitable arm Keep Pounding Fund at Carolina’s Health Care Foundation. The project supports cancer research and a children’s hospital.

Bidding through the NFL’s auction site concludes Aug. 20.
