Panthers sign Mike Remmers, Robert Lester, IR Chase Blackburn

The Carolina Panthers signed offensive tackle Mike Remmers off the St. Louis Rams' practice squad and promoted safety Robert Lester from their practice squad.

The Panthers cut running back Darrin Reaves and placed linebacker Chase Blackburn on injured reserve.

The Panthers are shorthanded at tackle with Byron Bell and Nate Chandler banged-up. Blackburn has a knee injury.

Remmers started at Oregon State. He's played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Diego Chargers, Minnesota Vikings and Rams.
