Panthers to sign No. 1 overall pick of CFL draft
The Carolina Panthers used their first two picks in the NFL draft last month adding defensive tackles Star Lotulelei and Kawann Short and still intent on stockpiling talent at the position they have signed the No. 1 pick of the CFL draft.
After a weekend tryout in rookie minicamp, the Panthers have given a contract to Linden Gaydosh, the first overall pick of the CFL draft by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
“It’s great,” Gaydosh told the Calgary Herald. “Like, I’m so happy right now. I was at a loss for words when the CFL draft came — so I don’t know how to describe the feeling I have right now.
“The first thing I did was call my parents. They were so excited the day of the CFL draft, I can’t imagine what’s going through them right now.”
Gaydosh said he felt comfortable in a total of five practices over three days and felt like he fit in.
“I was comfortable here,” Gaydosh said. “I feel like I fit in really well. But I have to adjust to the game. I’ve got to get used to that no yard (at the line of scrimmage) and a bunch of other things — different terminology that they use down here. There’s a lot of adjustments I have to make. I’m really excited for the challenge.”
And the CFL will have to wait for now.
