Patrick Peterson upbeat about contract outlook
Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson expressed confidence that he's in line for a new contract.
Talks have begun and are in a preliminary stage.
One of the top cornerbacks in the NFL, Peterson could obtain a deal in the neighborhood of Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman's four-year, $57 million contract that included $40 million guaranteed.
One thing for sure — it will be a big deal.
Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman just signed a four-year, $57 million contract with $40 million guaranteed.
"I think cornerbacks are definitely worth the dollars that they get because now this league is a passing league," Peterson told reporters. "You need that shutdown corner to lock down one side of the field, or like myself, go out there the entire field."
Peterson shadows opponents' top receivers. He's a two-time All-Pro.
"I think I'll be here for a while," Peterson said. "That's a definite guarantee, I'll be here for a while."
