Patriots announce they've hired Mike Lombardi as assistant to coaching staff

The New England Patriots have hired former Cleveland Browns general manager Mike Lombardi as an assistant to the coaching staff.

Lombardi was recently fired by Browns owner Jimmy Haslam.

Lombardi has been working in the NFL since 1984.

He worked in the San Francsico 49ers, personnel department, the original Browns as a director of player personnel where he worked with Patriots coach Bill Belichick.

He has also had stints with the Philadelphia Eagles and Oakland Raiders.

Lombardi has also worked in the media for NFL Network and National Football Post.
