Patriots' Edelmen enjoys getting shot in on VY
The New England Patriots new jack-of-all-trades Julian Edelman said he enjoyed playing defense in Sunday's 38-20 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, especially being able to hit Philly quarterback Vince Young.
"Ha! Yeah, any time we can get a rush on the quarterback and force him to get the ball out and have our guys make the play, it feels good. And we got off the field, so that play was good,” Edelman told the Boston Herald of his hit on Young while getting in a good laugh about it.
Edelman played defensive back, mostly in the slot, and said he had to make sure he stayed within the rules regarding hitting the quarterback.
"It’s funny because with all the rules floating around with regards to quarterbacks, I wanted to hit him but do it right,” Edelman said. “I just did not want to get any kind of penalty and hit him in the right zone.”
It's funny, but since Young was at quarterback for the Eagles on Sunday, there were probably some of his former Titans teammates, wishing they could have traded places with Edelman on Sunday and gotten in a shot or two of their own on the man who quit on the Titans last year.
