Patriots intent on cornering the tight end market
What is it with the New England Patriots and tight ends?
After working out Kellen Winslow, the Patriots have tried out yet another tight end, and apparently plan to sign this one, says Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com.
Michael Hoomanawanui, who was in camp with the St. Louis Rams, will apparently sign with the Patriots, who amazingly enough, find themselves shorthanded at the position, as it looks like Visanthe Shiancoe will go on injured reserve.
New England, of course, has two of the league's top receiving tight ends in Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez, but have auditioned - and even signed - a number of tight ends this off-season and now again with the regular season approaching.
There are still four days left until the Patriots visit the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. That might be time enough for Bill Belichick and crew to take a look at another tight end or two between now and kickoff.
