Patriots' McCourty suffers separated shoulder
The only snag in the New England Patriots otherwise dominant performance in Sunday night's 37-16 mashing of the New York Jets was the injury to cornerback Devin McCourty.
McCourty suffered a separated shoulder and will be evaluated today. And to make matters worse, it was a fellow Patriots defender who knocked McCourty out of the game. Defensive back Sterling Moore took out McCourty with a hit on him as he was in coverage on a pass intended for the Jets' Plaxico Burress.
“I miscalculated the hit,” Moore told the Boston Herald. “I told him that was my fault. I probably owe him a dinner.”
