Patriots' O'Brien to interview for Penn State job

After two months of trying to find a replacement for Joe Paterno, Penn State finally has a candidate for its vacant head football coach position.

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien is scheduled to interview for the Nittany Lions' post on Thursday, according to USA Today and other outlets.

The Boston Globe reported that Patriots coach Bill Belichick has given his blessing to O'Brien to interview at Penn State. The Patriots have the week off awaiting for their first playoff opponent to emerge from the AFC wild-card round this weekend.

For Penn State the wait has been long to try and find a replacement for Paterno, fired after 46 years for his lack of due diligence after he learned of the Jerry Sandusky sex scandal.
