Patriots reach extension with Hernandez

The New England Patriots have reached an agreement on a contract extension with tight end Aaron Hernandez, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Schefter's cohort, Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com, reported that the extension keeps Hernandez under contract with the Patriots for five additional years, which means New England holds his rights through the 2018 season.

Earlier in the off-season, the Patriots reached a new deal with their other tight end, Rob Gronkowski, on a new contract.
