Patriots sign Andre Carter

The New England Patriots made it official, signing veteran defensive end Andre Carter..

Carter, 34, spent last with the Oakland Raiders but was cut before the regular season began this year.

Before a disappointing season in Oakland, Carter spent the 2011 season with the Patriots, where he had 10 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Carter was a former seventh-overall pick in the 2001 draft.

The Patriots signed defensive tackle Sealver Siliga to the practice squad and cut cornerback Travis Howard from the practice squad.
