Peppers looking forward to second go-round vs. Carolina

Julius Peppers made a return to Charlotte, N.C., last season when the Chicago Bears faced his previous team the Panthers.

So when the Bears host Carolina on Sunday at Soldier Field, it’s just another game for the talented defensive end.

"I couldn't be happier,'' Peppers said on Wednesday in a conference call with Panthers media, according to the Charlotte Observer. “I can't really say I'm close to anybody on that team besides Charles (Johnson) and Steve (Smith) … and Beas (Jon Beason), too.'”

Peppers has two sacks this season and will be looking to get after talented Panthers rookie quarterback Cam Newton. He’ll square off against Carolina left tackle Jordan Gross, who he knows very well. Peppers made an interception and had a season-high six tackles against Carolina last season.

“He does something that amazes you almost daily,'' Bears coach Lovie Smith said. “And you can't ask for a better guy to work with as a coach than Julius Peppers. It's hard to tell from how he acts that he's a legitimate superstar.''
