Percy Harvin to practice next week

A week ago, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll mentioned it would be unrealistic for receiver Percy Harvin to get ready for Week 7's game against Arizona.

However, it appears Carroll was able to leave himself some wiggle room for Week 8.

According to a report from, Harvin will begin practicing next week and could see his first game action soon. How soon remains to be seen. Could it be Week 8? Possibly. But the Seahawks will likely keep that under wraps as long as they can.

Harvin has given updates on twitter every now and then to update followers on his progress. Early in the season he targeted Week 7 as a potential return date. With the Seahawks playing on Thursday night, it would seem getting ready by then became increasingly difficult.

The moment Harvin begins practicing, there's a three-week window for Seattle to activate him to the 53-man roster. So even if Harvin begins practicing next week, it doesn't necessarily mean he'll be available to play.

The Seahawks have the 10th-ranked total offense in the NFL (372.7 yards per game) and the second-best rushing attack (157.7). Getting Harvin back would only add to the explosiveness of this offense, led by quarterback Russell Wilson and running back Marshawn Lynch.

The Seahawks are 5-1 and sitting in a good position. Adding Harvin will only increase their odds of making a Super Bowl run.
