Pete Carroll 'humbled' over extension

With the success Pete Carroll has had with the Seahawks so quickly into his time there, it was a given he'd get a contract extension this offseason.

The organization couldn't be any happier than it was after Carroll guided the Seahawks to a Super Bowl XLVIII championship over the Broncos. As a result, Carroll received a three-year extension on Friday to stay put.

He was set to enter the final season of a five-year contract he signed in 2010.

"I think it's really exciting because it's a statement of our committment, of our staying power, and our willingness to do something really special with this opportunity in representing this fantastic fanbase, the area, and the following that we have," Carroll said, via the team's official website. "The 12s have been ridiculously fun and so powerful. We feel very humbled and forunate to be part of this."

In four regular seasons with the Seahawks, Carroll is 38-26, with a 5-2 record in the postseason. Before arriving in Seattle, he was the head coach of the USC football program, where he led them to an AP national title in 2003 and a BCS championship in 2004.
