Peterson's contract doesn't bother CJ

Chris Johnson's run to the top of the pay scale for running backs didn't last long.

Johnson agreed to his six-year, $53 million extension on Sept. 1, a deal that guarantees him $30 million all in the first three years of the contract.

Over the weekend, however, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson far surpassed that number, getting a $100 million package over seven years that contains $36 million in guarantees.

For CJ, who had wanted to be paid like an elite playmaker and has touted himself as the game's top running back in the past, being No. 2 on the pay scale doesn't seem to bother him much - now at least.

Asked about his reaction to Peterson's pay day by TitanInsider.com, Johnson said, "“Not really a reaction. I feel like we were in two different situations. This is the last year on his deal, and I had two years left on my deal. You've just got to play the cards that you're dealt."

For now, Johnson has to hope he can be dealt better numbers on the field than he is getting, as he had just nine carries for 24 yards in the Titans' 16-14 loss at Jacksonville.
