Phony Brett Favre signing autographs around Green Bay
A man who resembles Brett Favre and has been wearing a Packers jersey has apparently been signing autographs around Green Bay posing as the franchise’s former star.
You can’t make up a story this twisted and amusing, and the Green Bay Press-Gazette has all the details along with a photo a fan snapped of the Favre wannabe or look-alike.
Per the report, the man attended Packers practice on Thursday and posed for pictures with several fans. He then showed up at two area sports bars, signing autographs for 15 minutes at Stadium View Bar & Grille in Ashwaubenon.
"The guy is a phony!" said the bar’s owner Jerry Watson. "But he keeps his head down so you can't get that good of a look at him."
David Thomason, who coordinates travel for Favre, said the retiree has not been back to Green Bay since last season when he arrived as a member of the Minnesota Vikings.
“This has taken on a life of its own, like Elvis," Thomason said. "But Brett has not been in Green Bay."
It's a little amazing some people would believe Favre would tool around town wearing a jersey. Maybe Elvis would. But Favre?
