Plaxico said he had no intention of signing with Giants
Plaxico Burress says the New York Giants, his former employer, was just a team he used in the negotiating process.
To land with the New York Jets.
Burress says it was about closure, meeting with the folks he let down when he shot himself and wound up being sent away to jail. Maybe it was about trying to drive up the price with the New York Jets too.
Burress told Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News that his sit-down with the Giants was about “closure.”
"Personally, I think I just needed a fresh start," Burress said. "If I wanted to go somewhere and make money, I could have went a couple other places and got a two- or three-year deal, different things like that. But I just wanted an opportunity to go somewhere fresh and have an opportunity to play for a great organization and a great coach in Rex (Ryan) and a great team.
"And I feel like I'm in the right place."
Next up for Burress: A preseason game at New Meadowlands Stadium against the … Giants.
"There's no anger over there toward anybody (with the Giants)," Burress said. "Everything that happened to me I brought it on myself."
