Possible that David, Derek Carr both end up in Cleveland
Earlier this offseason, Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr said teams have embraced the idea of carrying him and his brother, former first-overall pick David Carr, on the same roster in 2014.
One team has emerged as a potential destination for both Carrs.
David Carr revealed that the Browns are one of those teams in an interview with the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
"Yeah, [the Browns have] definitely been one of those teams that have expressed interest,'' Carr told the newspaper. "There are probably about six or seven teams that have been real interested in that scenario, so we'll see what happens. It's going to be exciting.''
The Browns appear to be in a full-fledged search for a new starting quarterback. Brian Hoyer is the best returning quarterback on the roster. They also just signed Vince Young and Tyler Thigpen to offseason deals.
If they wind up drafting Derek Carr, presumably with the 26th overall pick or a second-round selection, then they could bring in David Carr too.
That would be five quarterbacks competing for two to three spots.
Whichever team that drafts Derek Carr, older brother David is hoping to be along for the ride.
"That's the goal -- to get him to play at a high level and to go out and use the experience that I've kind of gained over the last decade or so and try and help him out," the older Carr said.
