Prosecutors want Josh Brent in jail

Prosecutors failed in a bid late last month to have the bond of Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent revoked for failure to properly follow protocol for alcohol monitoring.

Now, they’re asking a judge to once again revoke the $100,000 bond Brent has and issue a warrant for his arrest. Brent, of course, is facing felony manslaughter intoxication charges in the death of teammate Jerry Brown, killed during a Dec. 8 car crash. Prosecutors allege Brent’s blood-alcohol level was double the legal limit.

Now, prosecutors say Brent has failed a marijuana test and that is why they want him in jail as he awaits trial, according to the Associated Press.

The positive marijuana test came up after a court ordered urine sample was taken May 24.

“Given the defendant's prior alcohol-related contacts and the severity of the charge in this case, it is the State's belief that the defendant continues to pose a threat to the community," prosecutors said in the motion to the judge.

Brent faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of the crime. Given all that is going on with him right now, you wonder how much longer the Cowboys are going to stand by his side.
