Questions abound for Cardinals at inside linebacker
Arizona Cardinals inside linebacker Gerald Hayes projects to be sidelined until some time in September.
According to Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic, the back surgery Hayes underwent last month will keep him out at least until the start of the regular season.
It’s a juggling game for the Cardinals at the position with the biggest question mark on the roster that doesn’t have Matt Leinart in competition. Now, the Cardinals have to replace Hayes, at least for the time being, along with Karlos Dansby, one of the team’s leaders who bolted for Miami in free agency.
Enter Paris Lenon, a well-travelled veteran. Enter Daryl Washington, a second-round draft pick from TCU. Enter Monty Beisel, another veteran.
It has to be a serious question for a team that wasn’t great defensively a year ago, and it’s one that needs to be monitored in preseason.
