Quinn still Chiefs starter if healthy

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel says he will stick with Brady Quinn as his starting quarterback if he is healthy enough to play.

That is a big if on a short week with the reeling Chiefs scheduled to face the also reeling San Diego Chargers on Thursday Night Football this week. Quinn suffered a possible concussion in Sunday's 26-16 loss to the Oakland Raiders, as the Chiefs turned the reins back over to Matt Cassel, who had been benched in favor of Quinn.

“First of all, we have to see about Brady and what his situation is and whether he can go or not,’’ Crennel told the Kansas City Star. “Then we’ll evaluate Matt and his situation and also we’ll evaluate (Ricky) Stanzi.

“I’m not ruling out anybody. I have to look at everybody. I know time is a constraint that I have to work under, but the first thing that has to be done is to see where Brady is. If he’s not available, then I need to see about the other two and then make a decision.’’

At any rate, the Chiefs are a mess at 1-6 as they have not led a game in regulation this season - their only lead coming in overtime in a win against the New Orleans Saints.
