Raiders, Branch working toward extension
The Oakland Raiders are working on finishing a new contract for franchised safety Tyvon Branch, says Steve Corkran of the Bay Area News Group.
The Raiders gave Branch the $6.2 million franchise tender, but the sides are continuing to work on a long-term extension for the veteran safety. Branch has signed his tender offer which will allow him to take part in the Raiders' off-season work while a new deal is worked out.
Oakland general manager Reggie McKenzie is still working to bail out the Raiders salary cap-wise, cleaning up the mess he inherited when he came to the club. Signing Branch to a cap-friendly extension that keeps him in Oakland long-term can help in that regard.
