Raiders great Davidson dead at 72
Former Oakland Raiders defensive end Ben Davidson has died at the age of 72 after a long battle with prostate cancer.
Davidson played for the Raiders from 1964-71, appearing in 110 games. He was part of the Raiders' colorful lore, filled with characters both on and off the field.
"He was larger than life to me," Raiders owner Mark Davis told the Contra Costa Times. "The handlebar mustache, the motorcycle-riding. He was a rebel. ... (He was) one of so many unique individuals on the Raiders."
Davidson, who stood 6-8, also appeared in movies, commercials and television shows.
