The Oakland Raiders have hired Stanford co-defensive coordinator Jason Tarver as their new defensive coordinator, according to InsideBayArea.com.

Tarver, 37, comes back to the NFL to join Dennis Allen's staff with the Raiders after spending 10 seasons with the 49ers and surviving five different head coaches there, leaving for Stanford this past season.
