Raiders to sign Aldon Smith

The Oakland Raiders are going to sign outside linebacker Aldon Smith, according to ESPN. Smith, 26, is at the Raiders' facility today. Smith is serving a year-long suspension for violating the NFL substance abuse policy. He's eligible to apply for reinstatement 6 days before the one-year anniversary of his suspension in November. The former San Francisco 49ers standout pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor counts of hit-and-run, drunken driving and vandalism. The Raiders will host free agent safety Reggie Nelson this week.
