Rams' Austin Pettis suspended for performance-enhancing drugs

The NFL has suspended St. Louis Rams wide receiver Austin Pettis four games for violating the league’s rules on performance-enhancing drugs, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

That means the rookie third-round draft pick from Boise State will miss the final two games of this season and will be under suspension for the first two games of the 2012 season.

Pettis has made 27 receptions for 256 yards in his rookie season but hasn’t made much of an impact at a position that has been decimated by injuries. He also handled some work as a punt returner.

The Rams have Brandon Lloyd, Danario Alexnader and Brandon Gibson as their top three receivers for the final two games before an offseason that many believe will bring with it a lot of change.
