Rams face daunting prospect of being without Sam Bradford

It’s looking more and more like the beleaguered St. Louis Rams offense will be without quarterback Sam Bradford this week.

The Rams make the trip to Dallas to face a Cowboys team that is desperate for a win and Bradford has been held out of practice this week with a high ankle sprain, making it likely A.J. Feeley will be the starter. High ankle sprains can take up to six weeks to heal and while we’re not suggesting Bradford will miss even close to that much time, to play without missing any time would be remarkable.

"Really no change,” Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo said on Bradford’s status, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “He's got every gadget and gizmo known to America in there trying to get him healthy. We'll see where we're at tomorrow."

It’s a difficult position for the Rams, who have been putrid on offense this season under first-year coordinator Josh McDaniels. You have to wonder if the step back the team has taken will put Spagnuolo in jeopardy with owner Stan Kroenke. If the coaching staff can’t develop Bradford, the No. 1 pick from last season, Kroenke will want someone that can. First, he’s got to get healthy.
