Rams open to offers for top pick tonight

The St. Louis Rams are on the clock and while they watch the minutes tick away to the re-start of the draft tonight at 6 p.m., they’re manning the phone.

The Rams are open to dealing the 33rd pick, the first tonight, and it makes perfect sense. Unless there is a player remaining on their board that they are head over heels enamored with, certain he will be a young star, the Rams need help. They need the kind of help multiple draft picks can provide and they should listen intently to offers as they try to rebuild a shipwreck of a franchise a day after selecting quarterback Sam Bradford No. 1 overall. Face it, the Rams had the No. 2 pick in the draft for two straight years before grabbing Bradford. They have needs across the board.

"We just have to figure out ... keep the pick, or if it's an option, we'll see whether to trade the pick," general manager Billy Devaney told reporters Thursday night. "And then how far, how deep we want to go back.

"It does at least give us more time to weigh options if we do get calls, which is kind of neat. And hopefully there might be a team that thinks that's their last chance to get a certain position ... so maybe they'd be willing to move up."

We’ll have to see if the price is right for the pick.
