Rams promote Mark Clayton from PUP list, need help
It’s later than the St. Louis Rams had ever hoped for, but Mark Clayton is back in the mix.
The team promoted the wide receiver from the physically unable to perform list, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, putting him in position to play Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
Clayton was returning from a knee injury when he had an Achilles tendon issue flare up. Today was the last day the Rams had to activate him, and he was needed with rookie Greg Salas going on injured reserve with a broken leg. Brandon Lloyd and Austin Pettis are the only healthy wideouts for an offense right now that has a hobbled quarterback in Sam Bradford.
The first year in the Josh McDaniels offense has not gone well in St. Louis. We’ll see if improvements can be made in the second half. It could be coach Steve Spagnuolo needs that to preserve his future. Maybe Clayton can give the offense a little boost.
Quarterback Tom Brandstater was waived to create room for Clayton.
