Rams reject plan to renovate Edward Jones Dome

The St. Louis Rams rejected a $124 million renovation of the Edward Jones Dome that was proposed by the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission, which operates the facility.

This is the latest step in the showdown between the Rams and the CVC over the stadium, a process that could lead to the Rams bolting town at some point in the future.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the club now has until May 1 to propose its own plan for how the Dome can be a “first tier” stadium by 2015. If the stadium isn’t in the top-quarter of NFL stadiums, the Rams have a provision in the lease that allows them to move. The process could go to arbitration at some point.

"We look forward to receiving (a counterproposal from the team)," the CVC statement said.

Many have been concerned Stan Kroenke, who took over ownership of the club in the last year, will move the team. He’s stated that isn’t his objective but he does want the stadium overhauled, presumably to generate much greater revenue for the club.
