Rams take chance on Greg Reid

The St. Louis Rams signed former Florida State standout Greg Reid on Saturday, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Reid was a five-star prospect that began his collegiate career at Florida State, where he played cornerback and returned kicks. But in 2012, he was arrested for a second time and was dismissed from the Seminoles' program.

He ended up at Valdosta State, where he tore his ACL in 2012. In 2013, preparing for the NFL draft, Reid tore the same ACL a second time.

Even though Reid was dismissed from Florida State, he worked out at the school's Pro Day this year, getting back in the good graces of Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher.

“Their head coach signed off on him,” Rams GM Les Snead told the Post-Dispatch. “Gave him the thumbs up as a person you want to invest in. Any time a player goes back to his pro day after, let’s call it a celebrated career gets derailed a little bit, it shows his hunger, passion for the game. We’ll give it a shot.”
