Randall Cobb toughing it out
Although his right biceps injury is clearly bothering him, according to reporters, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb continues to practice.
It's a balancing act for the Packers and Cobb: getting him enough practice time to prepare for the season while not aggravating the injury and making it worse.
"Trying to be smart and be tough at the same time is difficult for me," Cobb told reporters, via ESPN. "But I understand that I have limitations, and I have to be smart about it. But it's hard and difficult at times.
"I know at some point during the season I'm going to be in pain, and play, and I'm going to have to be productive when I do play. So trying to push through right now is more of a mindset for me. It's nothing to be worried about. I may look like I'm in a lot of pain, and I may be in a lot of pain, but I'll be fine."
Cobb acknowledged that it's not smart for him to be practicing, raising the question of why,
As for Packers coach Mike McCarthy, he downplayed the situation after holding Cobb out last Friday against the Arizona Cardinals. Cobb is a valuable, multi-purpose player who caught 80 passes last season.
"It's something that we understand what the injury is, and we wouldn't put him out there if we thought he was in jeopardy of moving forward and getting healthy," McCarthy said. "But every case is different."
