Randy Moss says Lambeau Field is a nice place to start comeback
Randy Moss had not talked in a long time.
But when the San Francisco 49ers wide receiver walked off the practice field this afternoon, he was in the chatty mood. Moss has been named a starter for his new team as he begins a comeback after taking one season off.
But he told reporters, according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, there was one topic he didn’t want to entertain – Lambeau Field in Green Bay. Of course, that is where the Niners, the defending NFC West champions, will kick off their 2012 season on Sunday.
Moss was fined for an incident at Lambeau Field years ago when he was a member of the Minnesota Vikings for a mock mooning of the crowd. That’s when he infamously said “straight cash, homey,” when he was asked how he would pay the $10,000 fine.
So, where did Moss take the interview on his own? Straight to Lambeau Field, of course.
“I think I played in Lambeau maybe 14, 15 times," Moss said. "I've played there a lot of times. It's in the teens, double digit. I've had success on that field, won and lost. I just don't like people bringing up the old stuff.
"I try to have fun with the fans, try to have fun. But at the same time, I want to go out and compete. So I think it's a good thing that my comeback -- or whatever you want to consider it - Lambeau's a nice place to start it.”
For those keeping track at home, Moss has played at Lambeau Field eight times in his career. He has eight touchdown receptions there.
